March 9 and 23 Workshops on Place-based Landscaping

firewisePlease forward a link of this post to friends and family that may be interested in the two workshops on place-based landscaping; these workshops are open to everyone.

  • March 9: Water- and Fire-Wise Landscaping. The bulk of this workshop will focus on drought tolerant and fire-wise landscaping but we’ll also get a brief overview of the findings from the University of Idaho Northern Rockies Team with respect to expected climate change impact for our region.
  • March 23: Wildlife and Beneficials. Wildlife and insects are a given, whether you invite them or not. Understanding what they like or dislike will help in creating the conditions and landscape that best serve your objectives.

We will have at least two guest instructors: Kim Pierson, National Forest District Ranger (New Meadows), and Jeff Motychak, Wildlife Biologist and Director of Natural Sciences & Mathematics of the McCall College.

Workshops will be held at the McCall College, 106 East Park Street in McCall, starting 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 9th. For registration, please contact the University of Idaho Extension in Valley County at 208-382-7190 or valley@uidaho.edu. There is no set registration fee, but a suggested $7 contribution will go towards expenses. Please visit www.valleyextension.org/mg2013 for additional information.

Hope to see you there!
