Just a reminder for those that have not yet been able to make it to an action team meeting and would like to participate.
The Sustainability Action Team meeting is tomorrow, Friday April1, 4:30 pm at the extension office (no, this is not an April fools joke).
The first project that the team is tackling is connecting the current geothermal heating system of the High School to the school’s green house and turning that into a demonstration project for the community. Tomorrow’s meeting will require some creativity in defining the project to also look for funding.
All are welcome and input is greatly appreciated!
What will the workshop do for me?
At the end of the workshop you or your business will have an actual, professional looking web-presence on a very low budget (around $100 per year, which would include your domain). The website will, if you choose so, allow visitors to leave comments that you can manage. Continue reading
With a little difficulty (Vim managed to confuse everyone with dates and days) we managed to have a follow up on the re-visioning of February 22. The result is the start of two new Action Teams:
- the Connectivity team: members are Pat and Patti Cowles, Dan Davis, Dwight Jividen, Mike Stanger and Joe Young. Their initial efforts will focus on looking at ways to connect downtown to the river, and at partnering to allow for a public boat ramp. The follow-up meeting is scheduled for March 29 at 6 pm at the Extension office.
- the Self-reliance team with members Kara Arnold, Mike Stewart, David and Susan Gilmour. Their initial focus will be on partnering with the high school to create a demonstration project involving green house horticulture and geothermal heating. The follow-up meeting is scheduled for April 1 at 4:30 pm at the extension office.
- Communications team. David and Susan Gilmour are also eager to start a Communications Team. They would particularly like to focus on signage within the Cascade area. Since this has been the subject of several initiatives and discussions in the last years, we hope to get up to speed in a brief meeting on March 22 at 1 pm at the Extension office. Anyone interested in joining them is very welcome!
- Still join a team! I know that several individuals wanted to be at the Wednesday meeting but simply could not make it. Please join into the next team meetings or let me know if any of you still would like to start-up something else.
A next challenge for all of us is Continue reading
We had a little over 30 individuals joining us on Saturday, February 22. Not as many as previous visionings, but certainly a decent number considering that the last time was in 2009!
Participation and feedback was great. Theresa Perry, Shauna Arnold and Dwight Jividen updated the group Continue reading
