Please forward a link of this post to friends and family that may be interested in the two workshops; these workshops are open to everyone.

  • April 13: Plant Diagnostics. Our region has its own particular issues: from bark beetles to iron deficiencies. This basic workshop will cover most common issues in our region and relate back to soil and landscaping issues covered in the previous workshops.
  • April 27: Growing of Edibles in a Short Season. The farmer’s market is an excellent source of fruit and vegetables in the summer months. Our gardens can complement nicely if only we could get a head-start. This workshop will cover (organic and natural) best practices from local growers, tricks for season extension and more.

Workshops will be held at the McCall College, 106 East Park Street in McCall, starting 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 13th and Saturday, April 27th. For registration, please contact the University of Idaho Extension in Valley County at 208-382-7190 or valley@uidaho.edu. firewisePlease forward a link of this post to friends and family that may be interested in the two workshops on place-based landscaping; these workshops are open to everyone.

  • March 9: Water- and Fire-Wise Landscaping. The bulk of this workshop will focus on drought tolerant and fire-wise landscaping but we’ll also get a brief overview of the findings from the University of Idaho Northern Rockies Team with respect to expected climate change impact for our region.
  • March 23: Wildlife and Beneficials. Wildlife and insects are a given, whether you invite them or not. Understanding what they like or dislike will help in creating the conditions and landscape that best serve your objectives.

We will have at least two guest instructors: Kim Pierson, National Forest District Ranger (New Meadows), and Jeff Motychak, Wildlife Biologist and Director of Natural Sciences & Mathematics of the McCall College.

Workshops will be held at the McCall College, 106 East Park Street in McCall, starting 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 9th.
